Navigating the Rocky Shores of Global Expansion

Study

Associations across the country struggle with expanding their benefits and services to professionals based outside the United States. Some are only beginning their global journeys while others are trying to sustain existing international operations. Vexing questions of cultural differences, resource allocation, technology transfer, and competition beset many associations’ global ambitions.

Navigating the Rocky Shores of Global Expansion explores US-based healthcare societies, perched at the nexus of social change and scientific innovation. This sector has so much to offer the world that, for some, a serious examination of the opportunities and challenges of international expansion is warranted.

The study is currently open to a small group of association executives in the healthcare sector.

Frequently asked questions

Please contact us with any additional questions.

  • The study is open to a small group of executives representing US healthcare associations working—or hoping to work—internationally.

  • We commit to conducting a completely original omnibus study of individuals (members, users, prospects) who primarily work or reside outside of the US. The topic is broad and the omnibus participants (your association and others like yours) will have the opportunity to shape the sample and content of the study.

In addition to all the benefits of an omnibus study covering topics that are relevant to associations in the cosponsor group, the opportunity to benchmark associations’ findings against a large group of respondents is an undoubted benefit. With the leadership of Monica Dignam as principal investigator working through the Indiana University Center for Survey Research, participants can be confident that their unique information needs as a healthcare association are understood and appreciated by the team working together on this project.

  • The study will follow a two-stage approach: The first stage is hosting a facilitated meeting designed to explore the challenges and opportunities associated with global expansion among participating association executives. The main purpose of this meeting is to explore the direction of stage two, an omnibus survey cosponsored by a select group of US healthcare societies working—or hoping to work—internationally.

  • Each participating organization will receive:

    • New insights into international markets.
    • A professionally-written report from Phase One of the study, highlighting the current state of US healthcare associations working internationally.
    • A report of your organization’s respondents compared to others as part of the omnibus study, shedding light on key needs and opportunities US healthcare associations can pursue.
    • Benchmarking within the US healthcare societies working internationally.
    • Opportunity to add two custom questions to ask of your respondents alone.
    • In-person networking opportunities.
